National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – (NEET UG)

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET UG Exam) is a common entrance examination for admission in medical courses.

Medical, Dental, & Ayush health science courses will accept the score of the NEET-UG exam for allotment of seats.

NEET-UG exam will be held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is the only gateway for admission in medical courses in India.

Qualifying NEET-UG is mandatory for students who wish to join undergraduate medical courses.

Students who have completed or appearing in the higher secondary examination are eligible for applying in NEET-UG.

You must have a minimum of 50% marks in physics, chemistry, biology subjects along with English as a compulsory subject.

Also, a valid rank in the NEET exam would be required to participate in the seat allotment process.

Only the list of students qualifying for the NEET exam along with minimum percentage criteria can only register for the NEET UG Counseling.

National Testing Agency has been appointed by the Govt. of India to conduct the NEET UG exam.

NTA is an autonomous organization which conducts transparent entrance exam for admission in premier institutions of India.

The role of NTA in the NEET-UG is as follows:

# Conducting the NEET UG Entrance test.

# Declaration of the NEET-UG results.

# Deciding the qualifying Cut-off Score of the NEET-UG.

# Providing the NEET UG Rank card.

# Supplying results to DGHS & all State authorities for counseling.

NTA has no role in counseling and seat allotment.

NEET UG Eligibility Criteria

Minimum eligibility criteria to appear in NEET-UG are as follows:

>> You must be more than 17 years old at the time of admission in MBBS, BDS courses.

>> The upper age limit for NEET-UG is 25 years as of the date of the examination.

*A Relaxation of 5 years is given to SC, ST & OBC students.

>> Candidates appearing in class 12th exam are eligible to apply for the exam.

>> Students who studied Physics, Chemistry & Biology with English and any other elective subjects in class 12th.

*Minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Biotechnology subjects together should more than 50% for General & 40% for SC, ST, OBC students.

>> Students who passed class 12th from open school or as private candidates are not allowed to write the NEET UG.

Admission in MBBS, BDS & Ayush courses will be done through the NEET UG score.

It includes all seats under the following category:

@ 15% All India Quota Seats

@ State Govt. Quota Seats

@ Central Institutions & Deemed medical universities

@ NRI, Management quota seats in private colleges

Indian & Overseas students of India must qualify NEET-UG for study medicine abroad programs.

NEET UG Exam Application Form

The online application form for the NEET-UG exam must be filled online through the National Testing Agency site.

Steps to fill NEET UG Application form:

#Step 1: Fill the online application form online to generate your application number

Students details to be filled inside the NEET Exam application form:

>> Candidate Name, Date of Birth, Phone Number & Email ID.

>> Father’s & Mother’s Name of the Candidate.

>> Gender, Nationality, Category & State.

>> Identity Proof Details & Disability Status.

* Review the details filled and press enter to complete the OTP verification process on the registered mobile number.

Now, create a password to securely access your application form.

#Step 2: Login using application number & password

You must fill in the details required to complete the NEET exam application form.

>> Enter Your Place of Birth by selecting Your state and district.

>> Choose the Medium (Language) of the question paper.

>> Select 4 options for the exam center.

>> Fill in Your academic details of class 10th, 11th, & 12th.

>> Enter Your Permanent & Correspondence Address.

>> Details of parents including qualification, occupation, annual income.

* Kindly review Your application and before the final submission.

# Step 3: Upload Your photograph & signature in the application form

>> You must upload your photograph and signature scanned copy to the NEET Exam application form.

>> The photograph must of size 10 KB to 200 Kb and signature of size 4 KB to 30 KB in JPG type format.

# Step 4: Payment of NEET exam application fee

>> Payment of the exam application fee can be made through net banking, credit or debit card.

>> After fee payment, You will be shown a message that You have successfully completed your application.

# Step 5: Print confirmation page

>> You must take a printout of the confirmation page and receipt of application fee paid.

>> Also, You must keep 6 to 8 copies identical photographs as uploaded in the application form.

NEET UG Exam Pattern

The NEET UG question paper is divided into 3 sections.

It consists of 180 multiple choice questions with 4 answer choice options.

All questions asked are from class 11th & 12th Biology, Physics & Chemistry subjects.

The exam is conducted for 3 hours from 2 PM – 5 PM.

Each question carries for 4 marks.

You will get 4 marks for each correct answer and for each incorrect response, -1 marks will be deducted from the total score.

Medium of Question Paper:

NEET UG is conducted in more than 11 languages.

You can choose the medium of the question paper in the following languages:

Choosing the medium of exam question paper must be done carefully while filling the application form as it cannot be changed later.

You must also select the test centers where the regional language is spoken.

The NEET UG is conducted across 150 cities across all states and union territories of India.

You must select 4 test centers near to your location while filling the NEET UG application form.

Application Fee for NEET UG exam:

>> General category students: INR 1500/-

>> Unreserved & backward category students: INR 1400/-

>> SC, ST & physically handicapped students: INR 800/-

NEET Exam Admit Card:

NEET UG Admit card is made available on the NTA website 15 days prior to the exam.

Login to Your account created on the NTA website to download your Admit card.

You will also get a copy of admit card to the registered email id at the time of downloading the admit card.

NEET UG Admit Card will have the following details:

# Candidate’s Roll Number.
# Student Name, Father Name & Category.
# Candidate Photograph, Signature, Date of Birth.
# The language of Question Paper with Name & Address of Exam center.

Instructionto be followed at the NEET Exam Center:

All Exam centers will open 2 hours prior to the commencement of the NEET exam.

You must bring the following documents at the exam center:

1) A print copy of the NEET UG Admit card as downloaded from the NTA website.

2) Passport Size Photograph as uploaded on the NTA website during application form filling.

3) Any authorized photo ID proof such as Passport, Aadhar, Voter, or Pan card.

4) Physically Disabled certificate if applied for relaxation under PwD category.

Detailed information about Test Booklet, Answer Sheet and Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) will be available on the NTA website before the exam.

Dress Code:

Light clothes with half sleeves shirt, slippers or sandals are the dress code for NEET exams.

Long sleeves shirt, shoes are not permitted at the exam center.

Schedule of NEET Exam Day:

NEET UG will be held on the scheduled date between 2 PM to 5 PM.

Last Entry in the Exam Center: Before 1:30 PM
Announcement of Exam Instructions & Admit Card Checking: 1:30 PM – 1:45 PM
Distribution of the Test Booklet:1:45 PM
Writing Particular on the Test Booklet: 1:50 PM
Test Commences:At 2:00 PM
Test Concludes: At 5:00 PM

NEET UG Exam Results

The National Testing Agency will announce the NEET UG results.

The NEET UG result is used for admission in the following courses:

# MBBS Admission
# BDS Dental Admission
# Ayush Courses
# Study Medicine Abroad Programs

Scoring & Marking:

Each question asked in the NEET UG carries 4 marks.

You will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer and -1 marks will be deducted from the total score for each wrong response.

However, no marks will be deducted if no response is selected for any question.

The test booklet code printed on the answer sheet will be used for evaluation of your OMR responses.

The NEET UG cut off marks shall be derived on basis highest marks scored in all India merit list.

The cut-off marks can be decreased if a sufficient number of candidates in respective categories failed to secure the minimum marks.

NTA will upload the results of all students who appeared in the NEET UG as per their Roll Number and Marks obtained.

You can download the NEET UG scorecard by logging into your account created on the NTA website.

NEET UG Score Card bears the following details:

>> Candidate & Parent Name
>> Student category
>> Application & Roll Number
>> Cut-off Score
>> All India Rank & Category Rank

The NTA will provide the All India Rank to the counseling authorities.

A merit list of the qualified candidates is prepared by counseling authorities on basis of All India Rank.

All students will be admitted on basis of merit list following the existing reservation policy.

Counseling & Seat Allotment

Common counseling will be held for the allotment of seats by the appointed counseling authorities of the state & center.

It includes all India quota seats as well as state quota seats.

All seats will be allotted utilizing the merit of the NEET exam following the reservation policy of the state & center.

The NEET exam rank will be used for the allotment of MBBS, BDS & Ayush courses seats across the country which includes:

@ State Universities
@ Deemed Universities
@ Central Universities
@ Employees State Insurance Corporation Institutes
@ Armed Force Medical College, Pune
@ Delhi University
@ Banaras Hindu University
@ Aligarh Muslim University

15% All India Quota Seats:

Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCI, PIO & Foreign National candidates are eligible for All India quota seats except students of Jammu & Kashmir.

Reservation of seats in Govt. Medical & Dental colleges under All India Quota Seats:

>> 15% of seats are reserved for SC candidates
>> 7.5% of seats are reserved for ST candidates
>> 27% of seats in central institutions are reserved for OBC candidates
>> 5% of seats of total intake is reserved for physically disabled candidates.

State Quota seats in Government, Minority & Private Institutions:

State quota seat counseling will be done on basis of NEET Exam score following the reservation policy of the respective state & union territory.

Deemed & Central University seats:

DGHS will conduct counseling for admission in AFMC, ESIC, AMU, BHU, Deemed & Central University.

You can apply online through the Medical Counselling Committee for Deemed & Central university seat counselling.

Conclusion:

Common counseling will be held for the allotment of seats by the appointed counseling authorities of the state & center.

It includes All India quota seats as well as state quota seats.

All seats will be allotted utilizing the merit of the NEET exam following the reservation policy of the state & center.

The NEET exam score will be used for the allotment of MBBS, BDS & Ayush courses seats across the country.

Studying medicine is a dream of many students as more than 10 Lakh aspirants apply for the NEET exam every year.

However, there are less than 1 lakh seats for the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) course.

      Only domicile student of Maharastra can apply for MBBS Seat in Medical Colleges affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Science.

      You can apply in deemed medical universities.

  1. We are NRI residing in UAE , my child is studying in British curriculum doing A levels. His subjects are Bio Chem Maths and Economics. What are the available choices for us under the NRI quota for private medical colleges in India . Physics requirement can be fulfilled by taking the SAT 2 subject test. Please clarify. What is the NEET score that we need to get for the purpose of admission.
